This course will explain the implementation of routers and switches in a small network, components and operations. Participants will be taught how to set up router and switch for basic features. At the end of this course, participants will be able to install and troubleshoot routers, switches and fix common issues with RIPv1, RIPv2, single-area and multi-area WSPF, virtual LANs and inter-VLAN routing on both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
This course explores computer network architecture, structures, functions, modules and models. To form the basis for the curricula, the principles and structure of IP addressing and the basic principles of Ethernet concepts, media and operations will be implemented. By the end of the course, participants will create simple LANs, configure routers and switches in specific settings and introduce IP addressing schemes.
SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN
1. Comprehension and explanation of key Cisco switch concepts
2. Understand the description of an enhanced switching technologies such as VLAN’s, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), Per VLAN Spanning Tree Protocol (PVSTP) and 802.1q.
3. Configure and troubleshoot basic operations of a small switched network.
4. Understand and explain the routing tables and search process, the purpose, nature and operations of a router.
5. Install and authenticate static routing and default routing
6. Understand and explain how VLANS logically construct distinct networks and how they flow.
7. Understanding and defining protocols, protocols for vector distance routing and protocols for link-state routing
8. Routing information protocol (RIPv1 and RIPv2): Opening Shortest Path first (OSPF) protocol (OSPF single zone) Settings and troubleshooting of simple routing operations in a small routed network.
9. Install, track, and troubleshoot the IPv4 and IPv6 ACLs
10. Understand and evaluate the features and advantages of the IPv4 and IPv6 Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name System (DNS)
11. Understand and explain how Network Address Translation (NAT) works and benefits
12. Setup and troubleshoot operations on NAT
